How To Prepare and Care For Your Permanent Makeup Appointment With Forever Valentine Beauty:
BROWS
Prepping:
If you were previously on Accutane, you must be off of it for (1) year.
If you previously underwent chemotherapy, you must be (1) year out from your last treatment.
Discontinue tanning (1) month before your procedure.
If you get Botox or fillers in the brow or forehead area, do so either (2) weeks before or (2) weeks after your PMU procedure.
Discontinue use of Retin-A or retinol products (2) weeks before your procedure. Specifically the brow and forehead area - it’s okay to use on the lower half of your face.
Avoid antibiotics for (2) weeks before and after your PMU procedure.
Discontinue vitamin E and fish oil supplements (1) week prior to your appointment.
If you typically get your brows shaped (i.e., waxing, tweezing, threading), we recommend doing so at least (1) week before your PMU appointment. If we see some brow hairs outside of our guide area, we will mildly clean up your brows at your appointment with a razor.
Stop taking blood thinners (3) days before your appointment. More bleeding = less pigment retention.
We cannot work on sunburned skin - keep this in mind if your appointment is during the summer or close to a sunny vacation.
Avoid working out the day of your appointment.
No caffeine (i.e., coffee, energy drinks, pre-workout) or alcohol the day of your appointment leading up to your session. However, you may have caffeine as soon as your session is finished! For example, if your appointment is at 2pm, you cannot have coffee that day until after your appointment.
Avoid wearing makeup to your appointment. If you have to wear makeup, keep it minimal.
If you have a pimple or breakout in your brow area, we will most likely have to reschedule your appointment for another day.
TIP: Come to your appointment with freshly washed hair. Since you have to keep your brows dry for the first (7) days following your procedure, coming in with clean hair can make your life a little easier.
It is important to follow the prepping instructions provided to ensure the best possible healing and results. If you have any questions or concerns about the aftercare process, be sure to contact our front desk team for more guidance.
Aftercare:
Keep your brows dry for the first (7) days. This means no sweating, no swimming, no steam, no sauna or steam rooms. The best way to cleanse your face during this time is with a makeup remover wipe, washcloth, or Makeup Eraser.
Your brows might look dark at first, but don’t worry! In the first few days, your brows will lose about 50-60% of the color and shift from a warm-tone to a cool-tone.
Towards the end of the first week with your brows, you’ll notice them starting to get itchy, dry, flakey, or scale-y. Do not pick at them! Disperse 1-2 drops of grape seed oil between both brows. Keep it minimal! They shouldn’t appear greasy or shiny after applying the grape seed oil.
After (1) week of keeping them dry, you may wash your face (including your brows) with a gentle cleanser. Continue with a gentle cleanser until your brows are fully healed.
Brows will typically take about (2) weeks to heal. Once your brows are fully healed, you can stop using grape seed oil and resume using makeup and skincare on your forehead.
REMEMBER: Your brows might appear light or faded during the first few weeks of the healing process, especially after your first session. If you want to fill your brows in, we recommend lightweight brow products such as pencil, powder, or tinted brow gel.
If you get Botox or fillers in the brow or forehead area, do so either (2) weeks before or (2) weeks after your PMU procedure.
We suggest waiting (2) weeks before getting other brows services, such as brow tinting, waxing, or lamination.
If you use Retin-A or Retinols, you may continue use (30) days after your procedure, still avoiding the brows directly.
It is important to follow the aftercare instructions provided to ensure the best possible healing and results. Aftercare is general and may vary depending on your skin type. If you have any questions or concerns about the aftercare process, be sure to contact our front desk team for more guidance.

Leave areolas bandaged for (2-3) hours following your procedure. After, gently wash the area with warm water. No soap. No scrubbing.
For the first (3) days following your procedure, continue to gently wash the area with warm water (again, no soap and no scrubbing). Your body at this time will begin to push out whatever pigment it doesn’t need from the tattooed area as it heals.
For the first (10) days, make sure any clothing that touches the area is clean and loose-fitting. If you typically wear a bra, we recommend discontinuing wear during this time (if possible). The goal is to prevent friction in the healing area, especially during the first week. We recommend avoiding any lotion, perfumed soaps, pools, bathtubs, etc.
After (4) days, you may introduce a gentle cleanser (e.g., Cetaphil) when washing. Remember to be gentle! Do not soak the area - just wash and rinse.
Towards the end of the first week following your procedure, you’ll notice the area will start to peel and flake. Do not pick at any scabs. Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor to the tattooed area to moisturize. Reapply Aquaphor morning and night (or following each time you wash the area).
Rule of thumb: The less you touch it, the better it will heal!
For Breast Cancer Survivors: the course of treatments you have undergone may affect the healing process and results. It is common for it to take several sessions to achieve desired results.
